County Square Shopping Centre in Kent, opened in 1975 and recently underwent a major redevelopment, almost doubling in size, with more than 60 outlets and a 600 space car park.
During the extensive refurbishment and development programme, expansion joint covers were required to accommodate building movement across the 500,000 square feet of retail space.
The first solution, specified by a less experienced supplier, had not been able to cope with the building movement and failed, causing a damaged floor surface and a safety hazard.
To solve the problem the Kent Shopping Centre was fitted with CS APF all metal expansion joint covers which are both hard wearing, slip resistant and safely accommodate any building movement.
