Acrovyn® Cleaning & Maintenance
ROUTINE CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
A proper cleaning regime is essential to maintain a good aesthetic for all installations. All Acrovyn wall coverings or profiles can be cleaned by using the instructions in this section.
Grease and grime are easily removed from all Acrovyn products with soap and water. Using a cloth, apply the soap and water solution with a light scrubbing action. When cleaning a textured surface, scrub along the grain. The cleaned surface should then be “rinse wiped” with clean water and dried, to remove any remaining residue.
Do not use cleaners such as MEK, Acetone, bleach or any other harsh solvent as they will attack and soften the Acrovyn material. Remember not to use abrasive cleaning pads or powders as they will damage the surface.
If grey-to-white streaks appear (common in hard water areas), these can be removed with a dilute limescale remover solution. Limescale remover must not be added to other cleaning agents. Instead it should be applied separately as part of your overall cleaning regime, if needed.
Details on removing tough stains, along with material specific requirements, can be found below. If your query is not covered in this document, please do not hesitate to contact CS for further advice.
HOW TO CLEAN
ACROVYN WALL PROTECTION
WITH SOAP AND WATER
Warm soapy water can be used with Acrovyn PVC and PVC-Free for regular cleaning and to remove areas of light soiling. Always test the mixture on a small, inconspicuous area before commencing to check compatibility.
Please follow these steps:
- Check that the soap is within its shelf life. Expired product will not perform as intended.
- Spray the warm soapy water onto the Acrovyn.
- Leave the warm soapy water on for 3 to 10 minutes to allow the action of the mixture to work.
- Light scrubbing with a soft cloth can aid the process especially on textured surfaces. Always scrub in the direction of the Acrovyn texture grain.
- Wipe off any residue with a cloth or paper towel.
- Rinse off the mixture using clean water and wipe dry with a clean cloth.
- Repeat the above process of application and rinsing until the stain has been fully removed.
HOW TO CLEAN
ACROVYN WALL PROTECTION
WITH ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL
Isopropyl Alcohol can be applied to remove stubborn marks. Take time to read the MSDS and familiarise yourself with the safety precautions and first aid procedures that should be taken whilst using the Isopropyl Alcohol. Skin
contact with Isopropyl Alcohol should be avoided by wearing the appropriate PPE during use. Ensure the area you are working in is well ventilated. Isopropyl Alcohol is highly flammable and should be kept away from any potential ignition sources.
Please follow these steps:
- Ensure that the manufacturer’s instructions are followed.
- Test on a small, inconspicuous area before commencing to confirm compatibility.
- Apply a small amount on to a soft cloth and scrub in the direction of the grain.
- When the soiling has been removed, rinse off the Isopropyl Alcohol with clean water.

ACROVYN WALL PANELS
Acrovyn Panels can be clad with Acrovyn PVC or Acrovyn PVC-Free sheet, both can use warm soapy water or isopropyl alcohol for cleaning tough stains. Follow the same instructions as Acrovyn Wall Protection above for details on how to clean Acrovyn Wall Panels. If in doubt, please contact for CS for advice.
HOW TO CLEAN
ACROVYN SMOOTH SHEET
Smooth Sheet is delivered with a protective film over the face side, which should be left in place until the room is ready for use. Once removed, it may be necessary to quickly wipe over the sheet with an anti-static spray, preventing dust and dirt to be drawn to it. Acrovyn Smooth Sheet can also be cleaned using the instructions for Acrovyn Wall Protection above.
HOW TO CLEAN
STAINLESS STEEL PRODUCTS
Discolouration / rust spots: These should be removed immediately by applying a mild abrasive cleaner with a wet cotton cloth in the grain direction of the finish. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry. Please ensure to read and follow the
manufacturer’s instructions.
Do not clean with mineral acids, salt solutions, chloride based cleaning liquids such as bleach, or hard scouring powders.
HOW TO CLEAN
EPDM RUBBER PRODUCTS
Rubber material may appear dull grey rather than black. This is normal and is easily rectified by cleaning with a mild detergent and water.
HOW TO CLEAN
TIMBER PRODUCTS
If the coating becomes grubby, use a small amount of mild detergent added to water to clean the surface. After cleaning, any excess water should be wiped off with a soft dry cloth.
It is inadvisable to use wax-containing polishes as they can very quickly cause a build-up of wax residue on the lacquer surface. This will become embedded with dust and dirt, resulting in a poor appearance.
